ANOTHER shark cake...

Yes, again this year our son chose a shark cake...beginning to think we are running out of designs. This year I had lots of fancy ideas but he wanted to keep it simple. Lucky for me HE drew the template and all I had to do was trace and create it onto the cake.

Here is his original template prior to "creation". Glad I have such a great little artist!

More cakes...

I've made a couple of cakes this summer. Since July is our son's birthday making at least one is unavoidable, but last week I made another one for a bridal shower. I was nervous, but up for the challenge. It was fun and I think turned out well. I learned some things to do differently and some things I will not change. I also decided to make all the cakes from scratch.  Usually I just use a box mix and change the ingredients around some...you know the old trick...but this time I decided to take on the whole thing from scratch and to my delight relief (and the delight of those who were my taste testers) it turned out well! The cakes were moist and flavorful.  The icing was an excellent compliment to the cake and it was pretty.   Ahhhhh, success....
